2019 IDEA Week Blockchain Hackathon

The 2019 IDEA Week Blockchain Hackathon was a great success!

Teams competed for $5,000 in prizes. The goal was to create the next great blockchain dapp. Teams worked for five hours to develop their apps. They then presented their work to the judging panel. The judges used the following criteria in deciding the winners:

  1. BUSINESS VALUE
How significant and relevant is the problem that the solution is trying to solve? Does that problem affect a market that we know and understand? Does it have a market?

  2. COOLNESS
“Coolness” measures the “wow” factor: the impression the entry makes when you see it, and the gestalt of the demo.

  3. REALISTIC CAPABILITIES
Which teams built working solutions? Which bit off a little more than they could chew?

  4. INNOVATION
Level of innovation is the awareness of other attempts to solve the same problem and how the team positions their hackathon entry. Does it do something new and unique?
